Why Saudi Arabia EPC RFQs need complete project information

Saudi Arabia warehouse, workshop, logistics and industrial park projects often involve many parties: the owner, EPC contractor, consultant, local importer, steel structure fabricator and site installation team. If the RFQ only asks for a general price, the quotation can become slow or inaccurate.

A stronger RFQ gives the fabricator enough information to review the drawing scope, estimate member weight, check production capacity, plan packing, and confirm which documents should be prepared for project coordination.

Project details to prepare before requesting a quotation

For a 500-ton+ steel structure project, HF Steel recommends sending the building use, destination city or port, expected schedule, estimated steel tonnage, project type, span range, surface treatment requirement and whether installation guidance is required.

For Saudi Arabia projects in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam or industrial zones, the delivery route and documentation expectations should be clarified early because they can affect packing sequence, shipping coordination and inspection files.

Drawing files and technical documents

The most useful quotation materials are architectural drawings, structural drawings, connection details, member schedules, steel grade requirements and coating specifications. If detailed shop drawings are not ready, preliminary drawings can still support an early budget review, but the final quotation should follow confirmed drawings.

When Saudi import coordination requires supporting files, HF Steel can prepare fabrication-related records such as material certificates provided by suppliers, welding records, dimensional inspection notes, packing lists, member marks and loading photos. The local importer or certification partner remains responsible for confirming final Saudi conformity requirements.

Steel tonnage and scope definition

Steel tonnage is one of the most important RFQ fields. A 500-ton warehouse and a 5,000-ton industrial building may both be called steel structure projects, but they require different production planning, inspection organization, packing control and shipment coordination.

To avoid quotation gaps, the RFQ should state whether the scope includes primary frames, secondary steel, roof and wall purlins, stairs, platforms, crane beams, bolts, paint or galvanizing, and export packing.

Saudi Arabia export packing and delivery planning

For large steel structure packages, packing is not only a shipping step. Member identification, bundle planning, container or break-bulk loading, packing lists and loading photos help the receiving team manage site unloading and installation preparation.

If the project needs phased delivery, the RFQ should mention the required delivery sequence. This allows the fabrication and packing plan to follow the installation schedule instead of shipping mixed members without site logic.
